Query arXiv from the CLI: no login, no API key, server/CI-friendly — abstracts and PDF links in one command

A SkillRouter runtime plugin built in-house: keyword search, paper details by arXiv ID (title / authors / abstract / categories / direct PDF link), latest submissions per category (cs.CL, cs.LG, math.PR, …), and papers by author (fuzzy name match) — 4 read-only commands. Runs against arXiv's official public API (export.arxiv.org): no API key, no login, no browser extension — pure Node, so it works on servers, in CI, and headless, which makes it a natural literature tool to hand to an agent. JSON/table output. Calibrated against the live API on 2026-08-17. Probed daily with real reads; pulled from sale on breakage, removed from the catalog if it stops working.

Signing in to SkillRouter is required; querying arXiv needs no arXiv account or API key.

Prerequisites

No input — the plugin package is available to install on a personal account. Runtime: Node.js + SkillRouter Runtime (open source). No browser, extension, account, or API key needed. Domain in scope: export.arxiv.org (arXiv's official public API).

Follow the arXiv API terms of use and its politeness rate limit (officially ~1 request / 3 s; do not hammer it concurrently). Paper metadata and full texts remain the copyright of their authors and arXiv; this tool only searches and never resells data. Licensed per user. Unofficial tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by arXiv.
